Standard 3:  Planning and Implementation

This video clip shows my ability to adapt content to meet the needs of diverse students.  A group of students needed to be challenged, and I adapted the activity based on my planned task extension and developmental task analysis.  While watching this clip, focus on the group in the far back left.  They had successfully gotten everyone in their group through the rope.  I extended the task by having them go through the rope two at a time.

The lesson objective for this lesson shown is:

1.       In a 2v1 setting at their home courts, students will maintain possession by passing and receiving the puck 5 consecutive times. (P1) (NASPE 1)

The video clip above shows lesson content that is developmentally appropriate and aligns with the learner objective above.  In this clip, the students are demonstrating successful passing and receiving attempts to maintain possession in their home courts.

During this clip, you will see the group on the far right successfully finish the task.  Once I see this, I approach the group and give them the task extension.

The lesson objectives for this lesson were:

  1. During the turnstile activity, students will demonstrate positive group cooperation skills by voicing their ideas, respecting the ideas of others, and compromising to solve a goal together. (A2) (NASPE 5)

  1. During the turnstile activity, the students will demonstrate effective problem solving skills by getting all of the members of their group through the turnstile without breaking one of the rules/conditions. (C1) (NASPE 2)

As seen in this video clip, the content within this lesson is developmentally appropriate for these students and is aligned with the objectives shown above.  The students used problem-solving skills to get their entire group through the turnstile.

During this lesson, the focus was on maintaining possession.  The students were to get five clean consecutive passes in a row.  I extended the task to the whole class by adding a defender as I saw the entire class needed to be challenged.

The lesson objectives for this lesson were:

1.       During activity on the beam, students will walk forwards and backwards by keeping their heads up and allowing their feet to find the beam without falling off. (P2) (NASPE 1)

2.       During activity on the beam, students will pivot turn by keeping their head up and turning in the direction of the foot behind them in order to cleanly turn without falling off. (P2) (NASPE1)

3.       During question and answer sessions, students will demonstrate knowledge of turns and skills by identifying the main elements (head up, arms out straight, point toes). (C1) (NASPE 2)

The video clip above contains content that aligns with the objectives above.  A student demonstrates their routine while the other students identify the main elements.
