First, I excavated the area where I was adding the 10' x 20' slab to the existing slab. Notice that I also removed the bottom siding to expose the side of the old slab to which I would be attaching the new. | Here, the forms are in place. I drilled 5 holes one foot into the old slab and cemented in 24" long pieces of rebar. This will keep the original and new slabs together and aligned as they shift over the years on the clay soil. |
