Course Description

■ Introduction to business processes and ERP, utilizing ERP to run business simulation game and analysis of results utilizing business analytics

■ Introduction to business intelligence, gamification, and social issues in IS

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will:

■ Understand the concepts of Enterprise Resource Planning and be able to contrast it to traditional functionally oriented information systems

■ Gain hands on experience using SAP, the worldwide leading Enterprise Resource Planning software

■ Learn how to use an Enterprise Resource Planning system to manage a company

■ Understand concepts of business intelligence and gamification

■ Understand contemporary social issues and role of IT

Changes to the syllabus will be announced in class and updated in Blackboard, but the student is ultimately responsible for keeping up to date with such changes.

Grading Policy

■ The course grade will be determined by the following components:

■ The grading scale is as follows:

■ In-class/Homework: Several exercises will be given during the semester. These include exercises done in class as well as homework assignments. Some of these will be team assignments and some will be individual assignments. While interaction among class members is encouraged during the course, individual assignments are to be individual efforts and are not to be done jointly. Unless otherwise noted, they are due at the class period following the assignment. Late homework will received 50% of the normal score and will not be accepted two weeks after the due date.

■ Presentation: Each team will be required to make a presentation during the final week that deals with a contemporary social issue and role of IT or business analytics tools. The presentation should be 20-25 minutes long, should involve the use of PowerPoint and possibly demonstrations. Each member of the team should participate in the presentation.

a) Academic honesty: Cheating means to misrepresent the source, nature, or other conditions of your academic work (e.g., tests, papers, projects, assignments) so as to get undeserved credit.?? In addition, it is considered to be cheating when one cooperates with someone else in any such misrepresentation.? The use of the intellectual property of others without giving them appropriate credit is a serious academic offense.? It is the University's policy that cheating or plagiarism result in receiving a failing grade for either the work or the course.? Repeat offenses result in dismissal from the University.

b) For Fall 2015, the course withdrawal deadline is Sunday, November 8, 2015.

d) Students have the responsibility to ensure they are properly enrolled in classes.? You are advised to review your official class schedule (using Student Tools on FlashLine) during the first week of the semester to ensure you are properly enrolled in this class and section.? Should you find an error in your class schedule, you have until Sunday, September 6, 2015 to correct the error.? If registration errors are not corrected by this date and you continue to attend and participate in classes for which you are not officially enrolled, you are advised now that you will not receive a grade at the conclusion of the semester for any class in which you are not properly registered.

e) If you are eligible to graduate, it is your responsibility to apply for graduation before the set deadline (May Graduation: Apply before September 15^th August Graduation: Apply before December 15^th December Graduation: Apply before March 15^th)? If you apply after the deadline you will be assessed a $200 late fee.
