Required Text:  Multinational Management, 5th edition. By Cullen & Paraboteeah (South – Western Cengage, 2011).

Course Objectives: This course provides an overview of contemporary issues and theoretical frameworks in the field of international strategic management using traditional lecture and practical application cases. It is a writing-intensive course requiring a formal handout, a Powerpoint presentation, and a formal paper on a global business management topic.

Learning Outcomes: Students should be able to recognize the functional areas of business and their contribution to organizational success from a global perspective. Changes to the syllabus will be announced in class and updated n Blackboard, but the student is ultimately responsible for keeping up to date with such changes.

Course Requirements and Grading:

a)      Examinations: There will be four scheduled exams, each accounting for 15% of the final grade. Exams will consist of multiple choice questions, true/false questions, and short fill-in responses. All topics covered in class may appear on the exam including those not contained in the text, and material found in the text but not covered in class may also appear on the exams.  In cases of emergency a maximum of one test or individual assignment may be taken on an early or make-up basis.

b)      Handout: Each student will choose a global business management problem, have the topic approved by the instructor, and create a formal 2 sheet presentation-style handout on the subject. This will constitute 10% of the final grade, 5% for the first submittal and 5% for the second.

c)      PowerPoint: A Powerpoint presentation will be prepared for the topic. This will constitute 10% of the final grade, 5% for the first submittal and 5% for the second.

d)   Formal Paper: A formal report of approximately 3,000 words (not including references) will be prepared for the topic.  This will constitute 20% of the final grade, 10% for the first submittal and 10% for the second.
