Course Description

The course is designed to provide guidelines to help doctoral students become more effective teachers.  

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to

        Understand and use research and teaching tools effectively

        Identify factors that affect student learning and teacher effectiveness

        Design effective courses, including lesson plans and assessment tools

        Design effective lectures, discussions, and exercises

        Adapt to differences in student learning styles and differences in the classroom

The course grade (S/U) will be based on attendance and participation at all class sessions.  Unexcused absences will result in a grade of “U”.
