Examinations
There will be 5 examinations. All examinations will be taken online, and are best taken using a standards compliant web browser like Mozilla Firefox. Examinations will consist of multiple choice type questions. All online testing material can be found at the Wiley course web and can be taken from anywhere (home, work, school, BSA computer labs, in the airport, from a hammock sipping Mango juice, etc.) the student has access to the Web. All tests are open-book, open notes; but before taking any test, the student will be asked to indicate his/her agreement to an Academic Honesty Statement. This statement will certify that the student agrees to abide by university rules on cheating, and any failure to do so will result in a failing grade. Thus, for example, while you are allowed to use books and notes for the tests, it is cheating if you ask other students to help you while taking the tests.
Sign the Academic Honesty Statement first before doing anything else.
There will be 5 examinations. Each examination is worth 25 points. Each exam (including the final) will take approximately 30 minutes. You will have only one attempt to take each examination. Results for the examination will be available after the examination closes in the Wiley website. From the five examinations, only the best 4 examination scores will be considered. Students will receive a score of 0 for any missed examination. Thus, the maximum score from examinations is 100. If you miss one exam, that exam shall be counted zero and all other becomes mandatory. There is no provision for any makeup points for the missed exam other than successfully taking the pop quizzes.
Extra credit
Quiz. There are 5 quizzes for this class. Each quiz is worth 2 extra credit points and shall be conducted in classroom sessions. Thus, the maximum point from quizzes is 10.
Grading A maximum of 100 points (including 100 points from online examinations and 10 extra credit points (quizzes)) can be obtained for the course. The grading scale is as follows

Exams The online exams will consist of multiple-choice questions based on the lectures, textbook, handouts and class discussions.
Each exam will cover four chapters from the book. No grade change will be made on an individual basis because of questions misread or misunderstood. Asking questions of the instructor must be done during the review sessions and class sessions only. Those who follow the system and attend class regularly usually recognize the intent and scope of the questions, and do well on the exams.
Missed Exams Students are expected to take exams on the dates indicated in the syllabus or posted through email. Make every effort to attend. Missed exams will be counted as zero. Exams and extra credit points cannot be made up.
Student Feedback Formal class evaluations will be filled out at the end of the term; however, don’t wait till then to share your concerns or simply your views with me. Your feedback is valuable: feel free to visit or e-mail me at (vgopalak@kent.edu) and offer any suggestions, insights or other feedback throughout the semester.
I will only be using Backboard Vista for posting, not e-mail. If you discover a common problem and contact me ahead of time, I may be able to email a general last-minute announcement to all using Flashline.
Academic Honesty Cheating means to misrepresent the source, nature, or other conditions of your academic work (e.g., tests, papers, projects, assignments) so as to get undeserved credit. In addition, it is considered to cheating when one cooperates with someone else in any such misrepresentation. The use of the intellectual property of others without giving them appropriate credit is a serious academic offense. It is the University's policy that cheating or plagiarism result in receiving a failing grade for the work or course. Repeat offenses result in dismissal from the University.
