How to get course credit for an internship

You must be a CIS major or minor and have a 2.5 GPA or better to get credit for an internship.

The CIS Internship enables you to earn college course credit while you acquire practical IS work experience as part of a CIS education. The course counts on your program sheet as a CIS elective. You must be a Junior or Senior to register for this course.

Procedure:

  1. Contact the College's Business Experiences Office or fill out the application and submit it to that office.  Information on the process can be found at: http://www.kent.edu/business/businessexperiences/studentapp.cfm
  2. There are no regular class meetings, but watch your e-mail for news from Alan Brandyberry about the course.
  3. The course is evaluated with a letter grade which is based on a written job report and an oral presentation. Click on the link following for details on these course requirements.
  4. When you have finished your written job report and/or the PowerPoint presentation, forward them electronically to Alan Brandyberry as explained in the course requirements directions. You must complete the course requirements before final exam week of the semester in which you registered for M&IS 44292!
  5. When you are ready to do your presentation, attempt to schedule it with one of your IS professors. If you can't get a commitment from one of them, inform Alan Brandyberry right away that you're ready, and what times/dates you will be available to do the presentation over the next three weeks or so, and we will try to find a suitable opportunity.
  6. Give the presentation on the date negotiated with the instructor of the class or Alan Brandyberry. Your grade will be turned in for processing at the end of the semester.
