The Nation Magazine:   one of the oldest weekly leftist political magazine in the US.  Quality writing from the likes of Alexander Cockburn, Christopher Hitchens, Jonathan Schell, Edward Said, Arthur Danto, and Richard Rorty.

Voice of the Shuttle:   links to everything imaginable within the academic humanities--literary theory, full-text literature, university department homepages, computer resources, shareware, languages, history, philology, philosophy, linguistics, legal theory, cyberspace theory, writing and technology, and much more.  A vital link for anyone doing legitimate research on the Internet.

New York Times On-Line: the on-line version of the venerable daily newspaper out of New York City.  One of the most complete papers in the world, covering international news, local news, national news, sports, culture, etc.  Requires sign-in.  No fee to do so.

Modern Language Association: great site for all of those interested in the happenings and politics of "modern language" study today.  A devoted site to the current academic scene in the languages and literatures of the world.

American Philosophical Association: great site for all those interested in the current scene in academic philosophical politics and happenings.  Job listings, current status of philosophical studies, tenures/promotions, etc.

Powell's Books: great independent bookstore in the heart of the Northwest.  Located throughout Oregon and Washington, Powell's offers great new, used, and rare books at very reasonable prices.  Great selection of academic books as well as general fare.

Chronicle of Higer Education: the source for all of your needs in terms of what is happening in higher education today--consider it sort of both the "New York Times" and the "National Enquirer" of higher education.  A must for all seriously interested academics, students wanting to enter professional teaching and administrators.

The Atlantic Magazine: the venerable literary magazine that continues to produce great writing, commentary on politics and society, and always interesting moments of expose.

Pop Cultures.com : This is Sarah Zupko's incredibly  useful page about everything that has anything to do with 'critical theory', university programs, theorists, writings, bibiographies, conferences, etc.  Very vast and very up-to-date.  It seems as if she has worked onthis hard...
