ANALYSIS

Turn in after the test the analysis of:

 

Written Final Exam

  • Questions summarizing all of the work done this year.

    • small structure terminology (phrases, periods)

    • Large structure terminology (binary, ternary etc)

    • Chord progressions

      • Harmonize standard bass lines

    • Types of 6/4 chords

    • Secondary dominants and leading tones

    • Mode mixture

    • Neapolitan Chord

    • Augmented Sixth Chords

  • Many questions will be based on the Mozart sonata - You will need to bring your copy of the Mozart sonata to class

 

Ear Training Written Exam

  • Chord Progressions - Be able to write the top and bottom line as well as identify the chords of a simple progression

  • Rhythmic dictation

  • Melodic Dictation

Of the following 8 Dannhäuser: 131, 136  138, 166  144, 167  139, 145
a) Pick two that you will sing with syllables and conduct
b) The remaining you will CHANT with syllables and conduct.

3-Sing

 

Grading:
The Theory final quiz grade will be the sum of:

  • Mozart score with analysis 30%

  • In Class Theory Exam 70%

The Aural Skills final quiz grade will be the sum of:

  • In Class Ear Training Exam 50%

  • Individual 50%

Failure to complete ANY part of the test will result in not receiving any credit for the exam -
