Taught K-12 classes in a wide variety of content areas.  Implemented lessons created by regular classroom teacher.  Created and implemented lessons prior to class if not provided by regular classroom teacher.  Taught K-12 physical education, K-4 and 7th/8th grade music, high school special education,  7th and 8th grade language arts, and 4th grade social studies.  Gained experience team teaching in 1st and 2nd grade classrooms.  Implemented the use of a SMART board and projector to enhance student learning.

Nordonia Middle School, Northfield, Ohio

 

October to December 2009

 

Taught seventh grade physical education classes with 21-30 students in each.  Provided instruction about volleyball and basketball.  Created lessons that allowed the students to understand game tactics along with sport-specific skills.  Compiled a Teacher Work Sample to research and investigate student learning.

 

Woodland Elementary and Fishcreek Elementary, Stow, Ohio

August to October 2009

Taught Kindergarten to fourth grade physical education classes with 21-26 students in each.  Provided students with developmentally appropriate lessons in spatial awareness (locomotor movements and pathways), gymnastics, ultimate Frisbee, and catching/throwing.  Collaborated with cooperating teacher and peers.  Conducted an Action Research Project to investigate an aspect of teaching.

Supervised and taught tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grade males strategies in effective goal-setting, fitness planning, and proper techniques in weight training.  Incorporated group work and student-centered learning into the weight room.

 

Hudson Middle School, Hudson , Ohio

Spring 2009        

Planned sixth grade gymnastics lessons and integrated them into physical education classes.  Taught students gymnastics on the floor and balance beam.  Taught floor hockey to sixth grade students while incorporating the Sport Education Model and The Tactical Approach to Games Teaching.  Compiled and implemented team building and cooperative game lessons to sixth grade students.  Researched various sources to create a seventh grade International Folk Dance unit plan that encompassed dances from over eight different countries and integrated history, world cultures, music, and dance into physical education.
