Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to explain, in terms of the discipline, knowledge of theoretical approaches to family violence in its analytical perspectives. These perspectives will reflect the ambient development and influence of scientific thought as applied to intimate violence. Prerequisite SOC 12050 (Introduction to Sociology)   Learning Outcomes

Four Papers will be given and expectations for graded performance will be discussed. (Absences: 4 - 1/3d reduction. Half of all classes - Fail.)  Failure to submit assigned papers will result in final grade being reduced by 1/3 for each paper. Exam questions are announced prior to the exams and students have the option to write in-class or submit a paper. No make-up exams and  password not accepted after 2d week of classes. Extra credit is never given in Dr Jack's classes because: 1. It is academic blackmail and 2. It is unfair to other students. All papers will be thoughtfully written and follow principles outlined in The Survival Manual. Content of papers will be a summary of the lectures/text and applied as explanation for everyday situations and experience. Question for all exams: "Give a two page synopsis of material covered in appropriate quarter. What is the main theme? What do you agree with and what do you disagree with.? Give examples from your experience."
