COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course offers systems approach to the control of materials and resources in an operating environment. Emphasis is placed on forecasting, material and capacity planning, implementation, and control.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
Students are expected to attend every class. The classroom lectures and discussions are an integral part of the course. You are expected to read all assigned reading before class. Most reading assignments will come from the Fundamentals of Production Planning and Control textbook, however some additional readings may be assigned. Preparation of all readings will enable you to be an active participant in classroom activities and discussions. Additionally, the class may attend one or more meetings of The Association for Operations Management (APICS). One or more plant tours will be scheduled and you are expected to attend.

HOMEWORK:
Homework is due on the first class after the assignment. Homework will be problems from the text and possibly some casework. Late submittal is unacceptable.
Exams:
Exams will be multiple choice, true or false, and some problems. The final will mostly cover the last two chapters plus some important material from the first nine chapters.
GRADING:
The course will follow a standard grading scale: 90 to 100 = A, 80 to 89 = B, 70 to 79 = C, 60 to 69 = D, below 60 = F. Each regular exam will be worth 100 points. Homework / participation in class will be work 10 points each, or a total of 100 points. The final will be worth 100 points.

With 500 points possible, the grading scale will be as follows:
“A” = 450 to 500 earned points
“B” = 400 to 449 earned points
“C” = 350 to 399 earned points
“D” = 300 to 349 earned points
“F” = 299 or less earned points
TENTATIVE CLASS SCHEDULE

The Following Policies Apply to All Students in this Course
A. Students attending the course whom do not have the proper prerequisite risk being deregistered from the class.
B. Students have responsibility to ensure they are properly enrolled in classes. You are advised to review your official class schedule (using Web for Students) during the first two weeks of the semester to ensure you are properly enrolled in this class and section. Should you find an error in your class schedule, you have until Friday, January 26, 2007 to correct the error with your advising office. If registration errors are not corrected by this date and you continue to attend and participate in classes for which you are not officially enrolled, you are advised now that you will not receive a grade at the conclusion of the semester for any class in which you are not properly registered.
C. Academic Honesty: Cheating means to misrepresent the source, nature, or other conditions of your academic work (e.g., tests, papers, projects, assignments) so as to get undeserved credit. In addition, it is considered to be cheating when on cooperates with someone else in any such misrepresentation. The use of the intellectual property of others without giving them appropriate credit is a serious academic offense. It is the University's policy that cheating or plagiarism results in receiving a failing grade for the work or course. Repeat offenses result in dismissal from the University.
D. For spring 2007, the course withdrawal deadline is Sunday, March 25, 2007. Withdrawal before the deadline results in a "W" on the official transcript; after the deadline a grade must be calculated and reported.
